SAINT MATTHEW, APOSTLE & EVANGELIST:
Patron Saint of Accountants, Bankers, Security Guards, Customs Officers & Tax Collectors.
His Feast is on: September 21st; Novena begins September 12th:
“Dear Levi, now known as Matthew, Thou wert first a publican, a tax collector, and then a gatherer of souls for Christ after immediately following His Call. Later, Thou wrotest wonderful accounts to Thy Jewish brethren of what Jesus, Descendant of David, saidst and didst as Teacher and Savior. Make all accountants imitate Thine example in giving careful and honest accounts. Amen.
O God, thou choseth St. Matthew the Publican to become an Apostle. By following his example and benefiting by his prayers, may we always follow and abide by Thy Will. Amen.
O God of Mercy, Thou choseth a tax collector, St. Matthew, to share in the dignity of the Apostles. By his example and prayers, help us to follow Christ and remain faithful in Thy Service. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and The Holy Ghost, One God, forever and ever. Amen.”
Pray one or more of the above once a day for nine days — novena — in honor of St. Matthew and for your intentions.
